Latest News – February 2010
New Year’s Day Bus
The Green Party again provided its free hourly bus service between Armley and City Square, incorporating parts of the No.5 and No.42 services on New Year’s day. The bus carried 162 passengers, and a box of chocolates was presented to the 2500th passenger carried since we started running the service in 1998.
Cllrs David and Ann Blackburn organised the mini-bus which was driven by Cllr Andy Parnham and other Green supporters, and sponsored by local businesses.
Summer Band Concerts in Local Parks 2010
This year Cllrs Ann and David Blackburn, and Andy Parnham are paying for 2 band concerts to be held in New Farnley Park, along with the ones in New Wortley Recreation Ground, out of their MICE monies. The ones in Western Flatts Park and Farnley Hall Park are funded by the Outer West Area Committee. All of the band concerts start at 2:30pm.

Missed Bin Collections
In January missed bin collections were reported to us on the Gamble Hills, Leyholmes, Kelletts, Cobdens, Pinders, Blackpools, Hardrow Road, Benson Gardens, Digpal Road and Whitehall Green. At the Council Meeting held on 20th January 2010 Cllr Andy Parnham asked the Executive Member for Environmental Services what plans were in place to deal with the backlog of bin collections, bearing in mind that the service had not returned to normal after the strike, and he was informed that a plan had been put in place to deal with the problems.

Cllr David Blackburn is dealing with ongoing issues in relation to the running of this service.
‘Safe Route to School’ Scheme – Lawns Lane
Highways Department have now put in place traffic measures on Lawns Lane. Negotiations are ongoing between the farmer and Council in relation to a path being installed.
Damaged Walls, Litter and Dumping
Walls have been repaired on Oldfield Lane opposite Netto and Farnley Hall Park after being reported by Cllr Ann Blackburn. Cllr Andy Parnham has reported dumping on Barras Garth Road. Paths between Silver Royd Hill / Tong Road and Cow Close Road / Ring Road, Wortley have been cleansed.
